This section contains Garmin Bluecharts. If the part number has an -S it means it is a small chart. If it has a -R it means it is a regular chart. There is no detail difference of any chart that has the XPC or PC designation, just the area they cover. G2, however, are the newer charts and have much more detail as mentioned further down.
Any chart that has XPC in the part number means it is designed to work on Garmins other than Garmin Chartplotters. An example of these being compatible are the current handheld models by Garmin such as the new GPSMap 4X0/5X0/5X5, GPSMap 3000/4000/5000 series, Colorado, Oregon, 60 series, 76 series and Nuvi 500. They all utilse either a microSD or SD datacard, the same types used in digital cameras etc.
Any chart that has VPC or PC in the part number means they will only work in a Garmin Chartplotter as they are on a Garmin format datacard rather than SD, microSD. Models that use the VPC or PC versions are the Chartplotter GPSMap 276C, 192/198/292/298/376/378/478/2100 series and other much older units.
The Garmin Bluechart CD is designed to install onto a PC or laptop and allow you to install one regular size chart that can be installed onto a datacard of any description that fits a Garmin as per examples above. If you purchase the CD it will allow you to use the chart on one GPS only. If you purchase the datacard version you can insert it to any Garmin GPS as per Garmin compatible list but cannot view the chart on a PC / laptop. Be aware the CD version is now called "Standard Bluechart" and will be discontinued at the end of 2009. If you have a Chartplotter that is not listed below then the Standard Bluechart chart is the only option for you if you are looking for waters other than what you currently have. The reason for this change is the massive changes in Chartplotter technology and high detailed marine charts that are now prevailent in the market place.

BlueChart enhances Garmin's marine product line with multiple user benefits:

• BlueChart g2, the lower cost tier with basic chart navigation, including tides, currents, marine POIs, IALA symbols, perspective chart view and new “Fishing Charts” and “Safety Depth” settings, invaluable tools for the mariner. BlueChart g2 is ideal for handheld devices and for the lower-end models of the Garmin g2 Vision plotter line. Available on Garmin card format and microSD/SD cards.
• BlueChart g2 Vision, the higher cost tier, provides all g2 features plus premium features including 3D Mariner View, 3D Fish Eye View, satellite imagery, AutoGuidance, and land based business POIs. BlueChart g2 Vision is the ideal companion for all premium Garmin g2 Vision plotters, such as the GPSMAP 6XX, 4XXX and 5XXX series. Available on microSD/SD cards only.
G2 works with the following Chartplotters and GPS but may in some cases require a firmware update as the asterix implies.
